Dr. Stockholm provides comprehensive critical care to inpatients at Lexington Medical Center.Expertise
Dr. Stockholm is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Nephrology. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy, as well as the diagnosis, management and prevention of complications in patients who are severely ill and may require intensive monitoring.Background
Dr. Stockholm graduated magna cum laude with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and chemistry from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and earned his medical degree from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas in Spartanburg. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and fellowships in nephrology and critical care at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, respectively. He also completed the year-long Teaching Physician Pathway Fellow program at Washington University that focuses on improving skills for medical education.
During his fellowships, he worked on projects to create and implement teaching curriculum for general nephrology fellows and an online module to recognize acute kidney injury in patients.
