Dr. Weitzel graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in Gainesville and earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. He completed his residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, and later worked as a Staff Anesthesiologist and Medical Director at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Dr. Weitzel’s military service includes deployments to Afghanistan, Africa and Italy. He joined Lexington Medical Center following three years as an anesthesiologist at Prisma Health® in Columbia, South Carolina, while also serving as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at USC. Dr. Weitzel has received a multitude of honors for his military service and his medical career.
