About Dr. Sarmiento

Dr. Sarmiento is dedicated to providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to women of all ages in the Midlands.

Expertise

A junior fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Sarmiento’s interests in obstetrics and gynecology include adolescent gynecology and minimally invasive surgery. She has additional certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, neonatal resuscitation, Nexplanon® insertion and daVinci® robotic training.

Background

Dr. Sarmiento graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology and earned her medical degree from Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. She then completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Ascension-Macomb Oakland Hospital in Warren, Michigan. She also earned a master’s degree in education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and worked as a teacher in the Teach for America Corps.
