About Dr. Fesmire

Dr. Fesmire is board certified in general surgery, surgical critical care and neurocritical care.

Expertise

Dr. Fesmire has additional certifications in advanced trauma life support, advanced surgical skills for exposures in trauma, fundamentals of endoscopic surgery and fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery. She is also a certified instructor for ATLS and Stop the Bleed^®. Dr. Fesmire recently cared for patients as a trauma, critical-care and acute-care surgeon at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. She also served as its medical director of Surgical Critical Care. Her academic appointments include assistant professor of General Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, assistant clinical professor of Surgery at Saba University School of Medicine in Devens, Massachusetts, and medical student clerkship director for General Surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.

Background

Dr. Fesmire graduated with a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed her medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. She then completed her general surgery residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her surgical critical-care fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
